Virtual
support groups connect people online who are going through or who have gone
through similar experiences. Participating in a support group can increase your
knowledge about your illness and help you learn to live more comfortably with
it. Virtual support groups offer you the ability to connect with people
more frequently, across distances, and provide a level of privacy (people don't
need to know who you are). You still need to practice caution with online
support groups. Be sure to include your doctor in any decisions to change care
or medications. Be careful not to share personal identifying information.
